ABOUT
Kykmyndir (pronounced “cheek miendr”) has been making waves since it was established in 2017. As an independent production company based on the Faroe Islands, we specialize in crafting high-quality storytelling for a global audience. Our diverse portfolio spans films, TV series, and documentaries.
In 2021, we proudly co-produced the award-winning documentary SKÁL, a collaboration with Made in Copenhagen.
The following year marked a milestone with the release of TROM, the first-ever Faroese TV series, co-produced with REinvent Studios for Viaplay and ZDF/arte, reaching audiences in over 35 countries.
2023 witnessed the release of the acclaimed documentary HEARTIST by Marianna Mørkøre and Beinta á Torkilsheyggi, co-produced with Rógviper.
Looking ahead, our exciting lineup includes the much-anticipated sophomore feature film, THE LAST PARADISE ON EARTH, by director Sakaris Stórá, and the debut feature by local talent Anton Petersen. Additionally, we have two compelling documentaries in production: DISAPPEARING ACT by Búi Dam, and MUSICIAN AT THE END OF THE WORLD by Pætur H. Evensson, both marking their debuts as documentary directors.
In a recent development, we’ve ventured into the horror genre, working on a slate of Faroese horror films designed for the international market, as well as co-producing genre films shot on the Faroe Islands.
Our passion for storytelling knows no bounds, and we are dedicated to pushing creative boundaries and leaving an indelible mark on the global cinematic landscape.
