 A theater director sets out to stage a play with his own mother in the lead role – an aging actress with severe Alzheimer ́s. 

“THE FOOL” portrays the journey of a theater director as he endeavors to stage a play with his own mother in the lead role, an actress suffering from Alzheimer’s disease who is incapable of remembering even a single line or following a basic direction. Behind this seemingly insurmountable endeavor lies a desire to re-establish a bond of communication and emotion with a mother who has lost all memory of her son ́s identity. Deeper down he’s dealing with a profound fear of ending up with the same disease. 

As his journey unfolds, he wrestles with uncooperative producers, challenging actors, skeptical journalists, the prejudices of a small-town society and persistent ethical dilemmas.
